🔗 Article: Celebrating 40 years of the Croatian Microscopy Society

This graphical abstract was created for the journal's Periodicum biologorum special issue devoted to the Croatian Microscopy Society.
It was created in collaboration with my dear friend and colleague Danijela Poljuha.

The first section was devoted to articles that describe not just the role of the Croatian Microscopy Society, but also the significance of having such a Society in our Academic community. The key words of this section were history, anniversary, SEM, TEM, and awards. In order to represent the evolution of microscopy we used a rather simple model of an microscope that eventually lead to a modern one. The line somehow represents time and leads the readers to significant points in the history of this Society.

The second part had 4 different sections. Each section was related as it represented articles that contributed to reader's understanding of the current research in the field.
Even if the taxonomic tree is used in different ways in science, here we used this approach to somehow indicate the interconnection between the topics. At the end, diversity often brings new discoveries.

The last part, but not less important, was devoted to articles that bring up topics about methods adopted in microscopy. Most of the articles were reviews, but one article was devoted to education and included a recent research on that topic. To differentiate the style of these articles we used a different approach, that helped us visualize them in the same context.
